Well, (Amster)damn!
I’m just back from Amsterdam after a whirlwind stopover for the SharePoint Connections Conference at de MeerVaart theatre in the heart of the City.
A great location, the MeerVaart theatre is a privately owned complex perfectly suited to a conference less than 1000 or so people.
The main auditorium has a great stage with impressive acoustics to a point where it was not even necessary for me to use a microphone. Impressive for a room that seats 800.
On the first day my session “On Demand SharePoint” was plagued by issues with connectivity to the datacentre I use for demos (more on that later) resulting in a session re-factored to be me tap dancing the complex subject of SharePoint and System Center with some hastily prepared slideware.
In the evening the event organisers (NC Comms) kindly laid on a nice speaker social at the Skyy bar in the Fashion hotel before I returned to my hotel across the city for an early night.
As always, Hilton looked after me and the view I woke up to was awesome – a sunny winters day in Amsterdam is impressive.
On the second day, my session “Taming Big SharePoint” went off without a hitch (mostly as it’s a demo free session!) with a great number of attendees despite being head-to-head with Joel and Jethro. Needless to say, I was delighted!
The slidedecks can be found in their usual location at http://bigseb.me/sebdecks
Overall, SharePoint Connections was a well organised and slickly run conference, I’m looking forward to the Office 365 Conference early next year!
Note on Demos:
I’ll be videoing and posting a password protected link to the video for those that attended my sessions. Drop a comment below to be notified when the link is available!
