Private Cloud is a Cloud Computing delivery method combining dedicated storage and compute resources with private networks for consumption by customers that typically have security, performance or scale requirements that cannot be satisfied through Public Cloud services.

With the characteristics of Cloud Computing not including a definition of the ownership of resources, large Enterprise organisations are able to either build and deliver their own Private Cloud infrastructure (which may or may not also be resold to other organisations) or, if they prefer, to consume Private Cloud services that are provided by dedicated service providers.

Examples of Private Cloud services include Microsoft Azure (with certain configuration caveats), IBM SoftLayer and HP Helion.
